OUR MISSION

 HOPE AND HEALING

THE PROJECT

Our mission is to create a positive space of hope and healing to survivors of torture and war trauma by advocating for access to psychological rehabilitative services as well as promoting knowledge about mental, emotional, social, and physical wounds of the survivors, which are largely invisible to many but very deep. Action for Survivors of Torture and War Trauma (ASTAWT) provides compassionate, culturally appropriate, and informed advocacy to survivors in order to accompany them toward a brighter future. ASTAWT operates in solidarity with survivors to determine their needs and to accompany them in their struggle with the lasting effects of torture and war trauma. In partnership with the community, ASTAWT aims to protect survivors and their families, and works toward raising awareness on the long lasting psychological and social effects of torture and war trauma. ASTAWT adopts a proactive and collaborative approach and adheres to the Istanbul Protocol.
