ASTAWT is a registered not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa that provides advocacy, support, and healing for survivors of torture and war trauma in the community. 

 

Our organization

 

• Researches issues affecting survivors of torture and war trauma and
  to advocate on behalf of those survivors for access to rehabilitation services.

 

• Provides a safe and culturally sensitive space to survivors of torture and war trauma where they can openly hold conversations amongst themselves.

 

• Provides summary legal advice through in-house paralegal services to survivors who may have to appear before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) for hearings.
